    Guide

A guard changes what your teeth survive. Not what your jaw does.

There's no pill for bruxism. Guards protect enamel, Botox weakens a muscle — neither one is aimed at the behaviour itself. Start by finding out what your jaw is actually doing: the quiz takes two minutes.

    The Problem

    Here's why nothing has worked

A guard changes what your teeth survive, not what your jaw does. Botox weakens the muscle for three to six months at a time, then you book again. Both do the job they were built for. Neither one is aimed at the behaviour — and neither has ever measured what yours is.

JawSense reads the muscle itself and tells you the moment it tightens — during the day so you can let go on the spot, at night at a strength you set. Notice it, release it, repeat. That is what the Night Biofeedback Programme runs on today.

    Why it happens

The jaw is where you feel it. It isn't where it starts.

Your jaw doesn't decide to do this. Your nervous system does — mostly without asking you first. It isn't your bite. It isn't weak willpower. And it's never one thing.

    • Stress & emotionThe best-established piece — for daytime clenching. At night it colours the picture rather than flipping the switch.
    • Sleep & breathingMost of the night's activity clusters in lighter sleep, around the moments your brain briefly surfaces.
    • Daytime loadEight hours of quiet bracing at a desk doesn't politely clock off at bedtime.
    • What you drink & takeAlcohol, caffeine, nicotine and some medications are all associated with more jaw activity.
    • GeneticsSome of this simply runs in families. It isn't something you did.
    • Posture & habitsWhere your head, neck and tongue sit changes what the jaw is quietly asked to hold.

Single-cause fixes keep disappointing people for the same reason. Fix the bite, manage the stress, buy the guard — each aims at one input and hopes it was the one. We'd rather measure the thing they all end up in.

    1. Jaw Activity Assessment

      Jaw Activity Assessment

Two nights of measurement answer the first question: how much your jaw actually does at night, how long, and how hard. The app's daytime check-ins run alongside — they map the half you're awake for, and the sensor takes that half over directly once the Day Biofeedback Programme ships.

Then work on it: twelve weeks of gentle, personalised night-time biofeedback, with every night measured so you can see whether anything changes. Release work in the app runs alongside, free — guided exercises, and tracking for whether either half is shifting.

      • Starts from your own Assessment, never from a guess
      • Twelve weeks of biofeedback tuned to your own jaw, in small groups
      • A cue the moment your jaw goes to work — so the habit gets interrupted, not just recorded

The daytime half, in the app

The nights are one half. The other happens while you are awake, and it does not wait for a device — check-ins that catch a clenched jaw while you can still feel it, release work you can do at a desk, and a record of whether either half is shifting.

      • Daytime check-ins, at varied moments so they keep catching you
      • Guided release and jaw-relaxation exercises
      • Yours whether or not you ever measure a night

"I've been dealing with night-time teeth clenching since I was a teenager — I'm now 40 and a mum, and it's really starting to take a serious toll. I've tried everything over the years (including Botox) and the NHS has basically said there's nothing more they can do. Your device honestly feels like the first bit of hope I've had in ages."

    FAQ

    Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from a night guard?
A guard is a barrier: it changes what your teeth survive, not what your jaw does. Plenty of people should keep wearing one. What it cannot do is tell you how much your jaw worked last night, or whether that is changing — which is the part JawSense measures and coaches.
Does this work for sleep bruxism?
Yes. JawSense ONE delivers gentle awareness cues both day and night — during sleep, clenching happens during lighter sleep phases where cues can help without fully waking you.
    Is this medically validated?
The approach is: our exercise protocols come from published clinical trials (Lindfors 2019/2020, BSOS 2018) and our check-in method follows published research on in-the-moment self-reporting (Zani/Bracci). The device's own validation is under way with university partners — we'll publish what we find, including the limitations. Funded by Innovate UK for device and app development.
    Is the app free?
The free tier is free forever: awareness check-ins, a symptom diary, starter exercises and intro education. No card, no trial timer. Premium unlocks the full exercise and education libraries and your analytics — a subscription that supports our small team's research and development.
