It's your trusty guide, offering gentle vibrations as biofeedback when it detects increased muscle tension to usher you towards relaxation.
The Nitty Gritty of Our Features
Muscle activity
The headband can measure jaw muscle activity through EMG sensors on the temporalis muscles. The app provides insights into the observed jaw muscle activity and analyzes the behavior.
Biofeedback
When the headband detects non-functional jaw activity, it delivers gentle vibrations as biofeedback. The app provides insights into the frequency and effectiveness of biofeedback provided and allows users to adjust biofeedback settings. The app can also be used for active biofeedback training through real-time visualizations of jaw activity.
All metrics are available as daily summary statistics and can be viewed as a weekly, monthly, and yearly trend. Selected metrics are available as daily timeseries when the headband is worn for prolonged periods of time during day or night.
Note that the product is currently still under development and it is possible that the list of features might change.
Sleep
Your headband estimates sleep-related data through an optical sensor and a gyroscope, providing detailed insights. The app provides insights into the observed data and estimated sleep quality and analyzes relationships with jaw muscle activity.
Stress
The headband uses an optical sensor to estimate health metrics related to stress and well-being. The app provides insights into the estimated metrics and analyzes relationships with jaw muscle activity.
Passive biofeedback
Passive biofeedback is provided through soft vibrations coming from the headband when non-functional jaw activity is detected in the user. Biofeedback settings are personalized to optimize effectiveness and can be adjusted in the app.
Biofeedback occurrences
Total number of biofeedback occurrences during the day and during sleep.
Active biofeedback
Active biofeedback is provided through the app where users can see their realtime jaw activity. Users can train to relax their jaw by following prompts to engage and relax their jaws and by being aware of their jaws.
Biofeedback response
Percentage decrease in observed jaw muscle activity after providing a biofeedback signal.
Resting HR
Resting heart rate estimated during sleep or during daytime periods of rest.
HRV
HRV estimated during sleep or during periods of rest during the day.
Realtime EMG activity
Realtime jaw muscle activity based on the left and right temporalis muscles for the purpose of active biofeedback training.
Baseline EMG activity
Estimated baseline jaw muscle activity during periods of rest, indicating whether there's a baseline of tension in the jaw muscle.
Total EMG activity
Total jaw muscle activity excluding normal functional jaw muscle behaviours per hour during daytime and during sleep.
Activity index
Summary index to capture the degree of relaxation of the jaw muscles based on a combination of the other metrics.
Number of episodes
Number of identified non-functional jaw muscle activities per hour during daytime and during sleep.
Duration of episodes
Duration in seconds of identified non-functional jaw muscle activities during daytime and during sleep.
Classification of episodes
Classification of identified non-functional jaw muscle activities into grinding, clenching, bracing, thrusting or other jaw muscle activity.
Asymmetry index
Index to capture the degree of balance or asymmetry between the left and right jaw muscles.
Sleep duration
Total time asleep.
Sleep stages
Time spent in different sleep stages.
Restfulness
Restfulness based on body movements.
Sleep index
Summary index to capture the sleep quality based on a combination of the other metrics.
Heart rate
Heart rate during sleep.
HRV
